Kelsey, in this terrifying world, all we have are the connections that we make.
Born in Ukraine in the mid-1990s and raised in Spain from early childhood, my work often begins from a place long familiar to me: movement—not just across borders, but across languages, systems of meaning, ways of remembering, and uncertain definitions of “home". With a background in journalism and photojournalism, my practice has gradually shifted toward slower, relationship-based forms of storytelling that prioritize intimacy and long-term engagement.
My work explores themes of belonging and identity, blending image and text to situate personal histories within broader cultural and political narratives. I often engage with contexts of displacement, migration, and the shifting notions of "home", creating layered narratives that draw from lived experience as well as collective memory.

West Of The Birch Trees Kirovogrado, Jmelnitskiy (Ukraine), La cala de Villajoyosa (Spain), Oekraïne anastasiamiseyko.com/west-of-the-birch-trees West of the Birch Trees examines how visual and narrative strategies can articulate identity construction within contexts of displacement. The project reflects on “home” as an unstable condition shaped by geopolitical conflict, housing insecurity, and the lack of intergenerational rootness. Combining photography, text, and archive, the work unfolds cyclically through several return journeys to Spain and Ukraine. Repetition functions as both metaphor and method to explore diasporic experience, situating personal stories within broader social and historical narratives.

How To Disappear Doggerland Foundation Den Haag, Nederland www.embassyofthenorthsea.com/events/000559-group-exhibition-kabk/ How to Disappear explores Doggerland, the submerged land between Britain and Europe, as a space of disappearance and imaginative reconstruction. Using photography as speculative archaeology, I intervene in ordinary images to question how we construct meaning from what is lost. The project meditates on absence, projection, and the tension between romanticizing the sea while destroying it—arguing that acknowledging the human perspective becomes a method for proposing new relationships with history and the non-human world.

By sharing agency, the images operate in a relational space where memory and perception are co-constructed. The work challenges conventional authorship and embraces working with rather than about a subject.
