Paulina Martinez Marin

Paulina Martínez Marín is a visual artist and community psychologist from Chile. Her practice entails arts and social processes, exploring different ways of moving with other spaces, objects and/or beings. She tends to do this through play, absurdity and collaboration, seeking to trigger complicity with others, provoke ways of relating to each other and flirt with new ways of inhabiting. Throughout her career, she delved into collaborative artistic practices, developing methodological and theoretical proposals that encourage critical and creative participation in communities. Integrating participatory methodologies and the paradigm of Latin American Community Psychology with the ways of seeing and problematising from Contemporary Arts. She has led different projects that connect art and social processes, such as Topiary Social Club (Folkestone, UK, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2022-2023), Llegó de Melinka (Aysén, Chile, 2019), Chanquin@s a escena (Chanco, Chile, 2018), Usted Está Aquí: links between art and community through play (Santiago, Chile, 2018) and Mapeo Matero (Lincoln, Argentina, 2017). Developing different initiatives whose themes vary according to the interests and needs of the communities themselves. With proposals around play, storytelling, radio broadcasting, and community mapping, among others. She has participated in diverse collective exhibitions and residencies. In the academic field, she has participated in different congresses in Chile, España and Portugal. Since 2020 she has been a tutor for the postgraduate program Art Applied to Society implemented by Uberbau House in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
