Using ‘Choir-style’ as a methodology this piece showcases the process of collective moments as an outcome itself. Echoing the voices and hands that went into its making—the ones that came before, currently around and still to come. It intends to obfuscate individual authorship into a collective voice, by entangling oneself into one’s surroundings. Here students from the Design Department come together with singers from the Swedish Festivities Choir, sharing experiences using finger-knitting while voicing as a medium. As a member of both groups, and borrowing from choir as a collective structure, Sara takes the role of the conductor through rehearsing a score exploring the moments of dissonance while finding harmony in similarities. The work explores the ephemeral elements of these groups—favoring messy, layered processes where design becomes an event rather than a fixed outcome. While asking the question, “Who gets to be a part of the choir?”. Participants: Sadie van Bremen, Doris Mari Demetriadou, Tine Kerres, Asya Sukhorukova, Ksenia Gorokhova, Jingran He, Mel Keane, Wooryun Song, Amelie Beets, Ina Felländer, Moira Forsells, Sofia Karlsson, Julia Kat, Alva Schaeferdiek, Nora Wanselius Souders, Lieke van Woerden. This project was put together and organized by Sara and is a part of the artistic research "Their touch should not go unseen". From prepping music scores and techniques to the vision for the final sound, performance and textile sculptural object. The participants came together by invitation in four specific moments Sara had created. As the facilitator, Sara acted as the conductor and guided them through these moments step by step. Their touch should not go unseeninfo
A soundtrack to accompany a performative threading and a collective reading with Lova Ranung, Ksenia Gorokhova, Nina Blume and Maria Hilmersson-Landgren in an exhibition during spring in 2024. Based upon the songs "O sommartid så skön och kär(Vallflickans sommansång)" and "Farväl, i sången vill jag minnas dig" by Dansar Edvard Jonsson, retold and iterated with the help of Lova Ranung's interpretation of the stories being carried through these songs. The soundtrack fades out into a "We're in this together" by Nine Inch Nails, recomposed by Andreas Nygård, and parts added by me, over "Lúppulagið" by Sigur Rós. This performance was put together and organized by me and became a part of my larger artistic research "Their touch should not go unseen". I created the textiles and this soundtrack for the background. For the moment I, as the main performer, instructed and guided the participating readers through it step by step.

Temporary dictionaries [tempa, rerè dikSHa,nerès] is an exploration of finding common ground in between different voices, artistic practices, bodies, minds and needs. It’s an on-going process from which new dictionaries can arise. Artists: Akash Sheshadri, Eric Andersson, Hanna Monola, Jenny Johansson, Sara Nygård, Sophie Dandanell. The exhibition Temporary dictionaries arose the summer of 2024 from the two week long residency Längs hela hjärtats kant, organised by Charles Vince Jakobsson och Moa Hjärtström. The residency took shape amongst the artists, which led to the participants inviting each other into their respective practice. By continuously building on what has previously been done. Such as, Jenny's tape collaging technique, Erik's city walk, Sophie's Tim Ingold text by the lake and Hanna's voicing exercises. This influence led to Akash and Sara to co-create a session in the residency about creating a temporary dictionary about subjective meanings becoming collectively shared and its temporality. These words and texts was transferred to a cloth that symbolized our shared working table of the two weeks. It was accompanied by all the materialization we had produced during the working process. An image is painted in company of others. In their zone of comfort. I click a picture, so it stays with me. Don’t tell anyone. I hide the image in the stitches and colors, obfuscating until they are lost. In my zone of comfort. I knit for them, so it doesn’t belong to me. So that I could tell everyone. Photo: Sophia Jiaqi Xu

This project works from the premise that truth is subjective. In this workshop, by writing letters to friendships, we dissolved our experiences into a collective voice, letting go of our individuality and the importance of truth. This workshop was put together and organized by me and became a part of my larger artistic research "Their touch should not go unseen". In the moment I acted as the facilitator and guided the participants through it step by step.

2025Unfinished Stories – Sandberg Instituut – Graduation Show 2025 Magazine Rebeka Erdélyi Nederland metropolism.com/nl/recensie/unfinished-stories-sandberg-instituut-graduation-show-2025/ "Continuing with the theme of collaboration, Sara Nygård’s ♪doo yoo…VIL-ken doh?[lahff—OH-kay, kej—ter] SÅ!!!…think? the UTH-er way [LAHFF—till-BAH-kah, SUM-mer will—ING] UN-der?…COME!♫ explores questions of collective authorship. The installation, hanging from ceiling to floor, is seemingly unfinished, with balls of yarn and knitting needles placed at the bottom. The accompanying audio piece brings together Sandberg Design students and singers from the Swedish Festivities Choir. Through a collaborative process combining knitting and voicing, conducted by Nygård, the work shifts the focus away from fixed outcomes to collaboration. It raises questions about authorship: how much of this work is shaped by the students and choir members? Who holds control over the result, and does it matter?"
