Spider and I - between Arachnophobia and Arachnophiliainfo
Between Phobia and Philia - There is a saying: No matter where you are, a spider is probably no more than a few meters away. I couldn’t find a calculation on the average distance of a spider to a human, but I guess it is likely that it is in between a few meters. They are everywhere. Or are we? We live among each other. This radio essay is outcome of my graduation project and larger research on human-nature relationships, alienation, and knowledge production.

If we want to change the present, we must first imagine it differently. The Web Conference Imagining the Arachnopocene is an online role-play and world-building experience, taking place in a video call in a speculative future in which spiders have left earth, the motivation of the conference is to collaboratively imagine a non-human-centred world. Participants of the web conference are invited to actively participate in the creation of another world, explore the relationship between humans and their environment, and negotiate issues of alienation, knowledge production, healing and power. The video is a compilation and video documentation showing some outcomes from two role-play sessions in May and June 2022.

A Little Bit of Magic is a radio drama on how magic is a way of looking at the world. The audio drama is in German language

Excerpt from the series Ways of Peeing. Letting piss run free is a privilege most womxn in this world do not have. The image of the urinating woman is not one that belongs into public, in addition, the sexualisation of the femxle body also makes it a dangerous risk in some places. Womxn have to hide, go off the beaten track and sometimes hold back until it is dark enough to relieve them selves. Ways of peeing is a visual liberation and a piss on the impossibility of the restrictive conditions that surround us.

Since my childhood, I have a fascination for vintage bridal and communion photographs, although I did not receive a religious education. For some women in the past the communion or wedding photograph is the only photograph that exists of them. However the older I got, the greater became the discrepancy between this fascination and my actual view on the world; As a feminist, I recognize the dresses and poses on these kind of images, as manifestation of the oppression and control over women. Through the memories of my 92 year old greatmother I explore the meaning and impact of these white dresses, my fascination for them and how to break their monumentality and give them another meaning.

2020Glowing Eyes Boek Self published limited edition Sophie Allerding Hamburg, Duitsland Glowing Eyes is a journey into the depths of the Amazonas rainforest in Brazil through the myths of this region, which play a leading role in the life of the forest and the forest in- habitants. These stories show human as part of his environment and thus offer different perspectives than the Western concept of nature. Myths have a great influence on how we perceive our environment, move in it, act and deal with it, there fore one can say that the myths from the Amazon have an influence on the ecological system. But there are also the myths that were created by colonialists to legiti- mize exploitation and destruction, they created nature that acts as a counterpart, which is wild and which must be tamed. Glowing eyes conjures of images up again, It is a physical exploration and representation of the mythology of the forest. In order not to create a counterpart through a gaze of the other, the artist switches from subject to object, that case the forest, it‘s myths and inha- bitants, and gaves object the possibilty to became subject. These time- and spaceless pictures were mixed up with collected stories in longer stays in Brazil, in order to contextualize these timeless myths into the present reality.
