Fuel is an interactive window installation for Nike's Fuel Band that was presented during the London Olympics 2012 in a shop Window of Selfridges. The installation consists of 96 colored balls that reacts on by passers. The balls represent the colored leds of the Fuel band which you get while earning Fuel points. The balls will take the shape of a curve (in a duble curved surface) which is translated along the window to the position of the viewer. Two Kinects, 24 heavy duty servo's and custom hardware software and electronics are used to realize the smooth movement of the balls. The corner of Oxford street and Duke street, where the installation was located for 7 weeks, is one of the busiest in London, especially during the olympics.

Sound Pixel is a interactive sound sculpture for a public space. The sculpture consists of 48 steel tubes. Each tube contains a sound which is only audible when that tube is touched. By climbing through the structure people can work together to create a sound sculpture. This installation is meant for a public park to bring people of all ages, gender, background etc closer together. De Komeet is a Dutch institute that awards prizes to young talented artists to stimulate cultural development. Sound Pixel was a finalist for this talent prize.

The Mold Fight is a stadium where molds will fight each other. The fight can be witnessed live at the stadium but is also streamed online (www.antalruhl.com/moldfight). Mold Fight puts fights in a different timeframe, evaluates the position of organisms and animal fights, and puts the position of lab research in our current society forward.

To investigate the effects of head-movement dependent GVS on daily activities, a device is constructed that, based on the head orientation of the user, will output low current electrical pulses to alter once balance. The current makes people fall to the left or right involuntarily. Making this current dependent on the head-movement can improve balance performance or give the illusion of being in a different medium (e.g. under water, outer space).

I created this stingray as an exploration of bio-mechanical objects. It started out as a fascination of the untouchable way the stingray dominates the sea. Its movements are slow, majestic and not disturbed by anything in its surrounding. Its wings move in a beautiful wavelike fashion. By creating a mechanical reproduction of a stingray completely made out of wood, I emphasized the creatures complexity and impressive presence.

Statues often serve as a memoriam to people or events with a great influence. The immortaliser is a statement arguing that everybody deserves a statue. Every individual changes the world forever. Without you, the world would have been a little different. Sometimes you are very aware of your influence and sometimes your influence happens without your own notice. This installation uses a multiple microphone setup with both direct and ambient microphones. The sounds are analysed and converted to the movement of a drill. The statue is created during the entire exhibition. Of course it is hard to see what your influence on the statue is just as it is often hard to see how you are changing the world. Some people are so eager to see their influence in the statue that they will scream or do anything to see the relation between their action and the shape of the statue. In the real world this is comparable with the drive and ambition to have success or power.

Rec/Play is a project of students involved in media art. Each student creates an instrument that served as an interface to a synthesizer. I have created a giant 8 meter long thick elastic string on which 6 accelerator sensors are mounted. Vibrations of the string in any direction are measured and coupled to a sound generator. When the string vibrates or is slowly pulled in any direction sound effects are generated. The string is very suitable to play with two people and the connection with an analogue string is maintained in visual as well as audible way.
