Melania Trejo (b. México city, 1977) is an artist, activist and educator. By choice, a mother, a wife and a migrant. Melania engages deeply with social contexts building practices rooted in dialogue and community, both in and outside the art world.
Currently, she explores ‘radical care’, a method and a framework in development to rethink community, pedagogy and artistic practices along the axes of structures of hyper-capitalism and climate change. This takes shape through education, installations, research, writing and collaborations.
Melania’s thinking takes place at the intersection of psychology, decolonial feminism and ecological re-imagining. This interdisciplinary approach, combined with a strong autobiographical element, demonstrates her ability for self-reflection and a constant attitude for situating herself across time and space.
Melania has a Bachelor degree in Psychology, a Masters degree in International and Public Health, and graduated BA Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague in July 2025.
