Disciplines: Mediakunstenaar, Mixed media/interdisciplinair kunstenaar, Monumentaal kunstenaar
Omschrijving werk
Joachim Rotteveel: " Within my work I utilize media and technology to reflect on present-day culture. I see technology – embedded in everyday objects – as an artistic language. It has a narrative potential. Technology is not only a productive force but also a medium, a form through which we sense and make sense of the world. In the overpowering techno-social landscape that surrounds us, I want my works to be a channel through which the dense layers of information become readable for the regular man. Through making art I try to create objects and spaces of an imaginable future whilst looking at objects and images from the past. In my artistic process new theoretical frameworks arise to philosophize about the present state of art and culture. I have a particular fascination with the synergy of art, science and philosophy. I see a great potential in merging the worlds of art and science into new breeds of artificial beings. My ultimate goal is to combine artistic and academic thought, whereby the two approaches test each other, as a way to enrich the output of both ".
