sarina Missot: "In my drawings, installations, paintings and photographs, I’m looking for incomprehensible images, which are complex, dynamic and energetic. To reach this I allow myself to be led by the imaginary process and build up the images through an interaction between drawing, film, (neon) light, literal layers, painting and photography. Some of the works are done within a few hours but others, like my paintings, the process has taken place for a considerable time, mostly years. I would like the viewer to feel the fighting spirit and the vivid lived through element. The images fluctuated between abstract and figurative and contains references to landscapes, maps and urban architecture. Other typical elements are; the rich full colors, ultramarine blue, graphic brush marks and the use of literal layers. All my works have an disturbing sense of melancholy and dystopia. Due to the complexity of the abstract image the viewer will be overwhelmed and confused, like if he is in a labyrinth ’where is the beginning and where is the end? A long viewing process is literally forced, the viewer has to explore the space by itself".
