Anne Wellmer is a composer / performer of electronic music and media artist. Among her work are sonic environments for performances, sound installations, audio walks, video works, radio art and network projects. In the past she collaborated with Justin Bennett, Stephie Büttrich, Boris Gerrets, Edwin van der Heide, Barbara Held, Het Blauwe Huis, Anne LaBerge, mxhz, Optosonic Tea, Relly Tarlo and many others. In 2007 she received an honoray mention in the category Digital Musics from the Prix Ars Electronica for her work in progress fwd:inf•rec. The "Institut fuer Kunst im Oeffentlichen Raum des Joanneum" in Graz/Austria commissioned her work "the styrian listening hat" in 2008. She performed at the New York Electronic Arts Festival 2007, presented work at Espai UBU in Barcelona during te video festival LOOP 2009, and among others showed her work at the ZKM in Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica in Linz, at DEAF in Rotterdam, the World Wide Video Festival in Amsterdam and the very first SoniKCacts in Paradiso (1995). Wellmer studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and experimental music and composition with Alvin Lucier at Wesleyan University in Middletown/CT/USA. Wellmer lives and works in The Hague.
