Renzo van Steenbergen: "Renzo van Steenbergen (1977) is operative as an autonomous allround artist working in the fields of installation art, music and composition, film, live-cinema and contemporary theatre. The relationship between the different senses of the human body and the relationship between man and technology are recurring themes in much of Renzo's work. By trying to influence the relationship between touch, sound, and sight, Renzo has built various installations where he tries to create an interface with the possibility of individual interaction with the audience to create a unique experience. Next to working with the artist-collective feedbacksociety, he is programmer and initiator of Seveninchrecordings and Seveninchprojects, is a part of several noise formations such as Noizbleed and Johnny Locash and has collaborated with numerous internationally acknowledged and unrecognized artists and institutions. Renzo studied Artscience at the Interfaculty of Image & Sound at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he finished with a Bachelor’s degree. Projects The project Feedbacksociety started in 2002. Feedbacksociety explores audio-visual techniques both analog and digital, trying to react to the environment of where they are performing at that moment, as well as in building installations. The members of Feedbacksociety are: Renzo van Steenbergen, Arno Scheper, Willem Witte and Kim Laugs, all of whom are audio-visual artists based in The Hague and Berlin. Since the birth of the society they have grown to be well known in the experimental electronics and noise scene and have performed and been featured in many national and international venues and electronic art festivals, such as State-X Festival The Hague, Machinista Festival Glasgow, AIFF Festival Amsterdam, Locall Festival Athens, Garage Festival Strallsund and many more. In 2004 Renzo created an electronic noise group together with Ferenc Teglas (aka Dead Skull, Cyberfarts) called Noizbleed as a vehicle to express their feelings about the world today. After having done some groundbreaking, upsetting, and most of the time straight-forward raw electronic-industrial performances, Noizbleed has been hiding out somewhere, working on a plan to conquer and destroy the world in 2013. In 2005 Renzo, coming from the more experimental noise scene and Joris Strijbos (aka Obnoxious, OBX), coming from the more hardcore underground scene, thought it might be a good idea to join forces and start a small DIY record label and platform, called Seveninchrecordings, to give the young, adventurous and experimental music scene a push forward. By releasing new, different and strangely combined music, as well as organizing events they try to inspire new artists to come out and do their stuff. They worked with many very interesting formations and different artists such as Cirkus Apraxie, Audile, Computer Aided Breathing, TofTofTof, Typhique and many more."
