Omschrijving werk
One can define the beautiful object as an object, that can show correct correlation between its inner and external being. Take the example of a coffee cup of which the handle is broken and dirty from old coffee stains, contrary to an unbroken, clean cup. Since the broken and dirty cup is polluting its surroundings, it claims a bigger space, it pushes us to see it. The inner being of the cup, or its energy, is larger than its external being. At the same time, the unbroken, clean cup remains its natural and suitable size. A broken cup is an individual cup that no longer belongs with the other clean an unbroken "ideal" cups. It forces the viewer to notice it as a unique object. It's not ideal. It defines its own existence, not only as an opposite of beauty or ideal. It creates possibilities to be something we don't know and can't control, and in the end, can tell us new stories.
