Seekee Chung creates (re-) constructions of buildings, interiors and landscapes based upon found footage and her own memory. The models remind the viewer of a ‘show-box’ in where a composed and desolate atmosphere is created with the help of light, perspective and depth. Despite the minor dimensions these models have a striking spatial and imposing effect. The work of Seekee Chung is always based upon found footage. Seekee searches the virtual world of the web in pursuit of images that she sees fit as building stones for her dreamery worlds. After processing the raw material Seekee composes the flowers, subtitles, trees, raindrops, stones and buildings into desolate and floating worlds. As Seekee says: ‘I do not try to escape from reality, I just built my own with the bricks I can find’.
